The Nazar Voitovich Art Residence project team is addressing you with a proposition to join
Dear Sir or Madam,
The Nazar
Voitovich Art Residence project team is addressing you with a proposition to
join our Community of Friends who support the development of young Ukrainian
art. Our goal is to open new free-access ceramic and printmaking art studios.
They are meant for aspiring artists who will be able to further develop their
talents and learn from their more experienced colleagues as well as do projects
together with them. This experience will pave their way to presenting their art
pieces in Ukraine and abroad.
We are
collecting funds for creating proper living conditions and buying equipment for
two new studios.
And
bunk-beds for artists who will be hosted in The Nazar Voitovich Art Residence
in the village of Travneve, Ternopil region, Western Ukraine.
The
Residence has already carried out its first AIR program, in which 6 artists
from Ukraine and the USA took part. At
the current moment, we have one fully-equipped and functional studio in
Travneve which has a library, a cinema club, art classes for children and the
youth, and a community center. All of this has become possible thanks to
donations we collected from various sources, mainly our partners,
philanthropists, non-governmental and governmental organizations, businesses
and volunteers. With their support, we managed to collect 57.000 UAH, which we
used to renovate the abovementioned studio and carry out the first AIR program.
This time we have a goal twice as large. We are collecting 100.000 UAH through Big Idea, a Ukrainian crowdfunding platform. Every hryvnia collected on Big Idea will be doubled by the International Renaissance Foundation, which will secure the steady work of all three – one existing and two in progress – art studios for half a year, as well as allow us to organize presentations and exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad.

The
project is dedicated to the youngest hero of the Heavenly Hundred - Nazar
Voitovich, a young man who died during the armed altercation with the military
forces on Maidan on January 20th, 2014. He was studying to be a
designer and dreamed of becoming an artist, which is why he was getting ready
to enter the art academy at the time of the horrific events. His other big
dream was to see Ukraine – “the country of kind people”. By helping this
project, you will be able to help make Nazar’s dreams come true and become a
part of a community that can and shall do good even in the hardest of times.

We
are working on this project because we know that art centers are required not
only in large cities but in small communities as well, perhaps even more so.
This small project in a no-name village in Ternopil region has the potential to
become a world-famous institution. We believe that together we can build a
truly unique international art center.
